And the Winners Are

First Quarter Community Service Superstars

Heather Bohrer

Volunteers are vital to the success of YPW and many other community organizations, and we’ll be recognizing our Community Service Superstars on a quarterly basis for their service in the Wichita community and within YPW.  Each superstar will receive a free oil change courtesy of Davis-Moore Automotive Group.

Sundee Dunn – Community Service Superstar

“When I attended the Ambassadors meetings I felt like I was already a part of the team. I am privileged work with all the YPs in the organization and call many friends.”

Sundee Dunn, Marketing Assistant with High Touch Technologies, has been a member of Young Professionals of Wichita (YPW) for a year.  She quickly showed her interest in getting involved and currently holds a leadership role as Envoy Chair for 2014. Dunn is on the Ambassadors action team and hYPe sub-committee. Along with the YPW Board, she is also sitting on the Young Professionals of Derby, Wichita American Marketing Association, and the Red Shoe Society with Ronald McDonald House Charities boards.

Suzy Finn, Executive Director of YPW said, “In the past year, Sundee has demonstrated that she has a passion for volunteering in the Wichita community. Taking on leadership roles with Young Professionals of Wichita, Young Professionals of Derby, and the Wichita American Marketing Association shows how much she cares about advancing the future of our community. Her marketing insights have helped YPW increase its reach in the community as well.”

Dunn says she joined YPW to develop skills, broaden her social network and most importantly develop friendships. “I enjoy giving back to the Wichita Community through YPW and other organizations. It is a win, win situation because I am able to grow while giving at the same time. I have learned a lot from YPW thus far and am excited to gain new skills from my roles this year, as well as attending the Leadership Academy.”
About getting involved in YPW Dunn said, “This will be the best decision you make. You can get as much out of this organization as you put into it.” Sign up today!

Nate Hinkel – YPW Service Superstar

“I believe that true members are ones that contribute to the mission of the organization.”

Nate Hinkel is an Underwriter with USAIG and has been a YPW  member for a year and a half.  He wasted no time getting involved in the organization and currently holds a leadership role as Chair of the Ambassadors action team. When Hinkel joined YPW he was looking to expand his social circle and get more involved in the community. Along with YPW, he currently volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and NewSpring Church.

Finn says “Since Nate joined the Ambassadors team, he has had a tremendous impact on the organization. He won our YPW commitment award in 2013 for attending the most YPW events out of all 2,200 members. He took over leadership of the Ambassadors team after only a few months with the group, and has led it to being the most active it’s been in several years.”

Hinkel says he has learned a lot from the organization, especially about teamwork, leadership, marketing, networking, and organizational development. Some advice from Hinkel for others wanting to get involved – “Don’t hesitate! YPW includes some individuals that are exceptionally passionate about bringing growth to our organization, and community.  I enjoy volunteering with these YPs, and seeing the collective power we have to make a difference in Wichita.”
