Cocktails and Creativity: YPW’s Third ServeUp Project

ServeUp’s volunteer team mixes it up with the year’s first volunteer project

Stef Flores - YPW Program Coordinator

The Event

When: March 8, 6:00 p.m.

Where: Gianni Bacci’s

Who: Arts Partners

You like cocktails, you like being creative, and you like a good cause, making Shaken: Mixology 101 the perfect event for you. Gianni Bacci’s will be hosting the event, where you’ll be able to practice your mixing skills and taste test some martinis (which we know you’re excited about) before partaking in some color mixing with Arts Partners’ artist Josh Tripoli. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the cost is $20 per person. But not for you! You’re a young professional, and Arts Partners wants to help you get in the mix. As a result, if you pre-register, your ticket is only $15. Your discount code? YPWDISCOUNT.

The Cause

Arts Partners, a local affiliate of the Young Audiences Arts of Learning network, offers a variety of programming for students twelve months to twelfth grade, bringing music, drama, and art back into USD 259’s curriculum. And now, with the help of YPW’s third ServeUp team, they’re reinventing how you spend your Tuesday night, specifically Tuesday, March 8.

The Project

ServeUp is a YPW volunteer program put on by the Community Relations action team. Started in 2014, its goal is to connect young professionals to non-profits, working together to tackle a specific challenge addressed by the non-profit. How does it work? A non-profit might jump on YPW’s website with their unique challenge (recruiting volunteers, collecting and analyzing data, reaching fundraising goals, evaluating a program, etc.), and ServeUp’s fearless leader, Scott Lunsford, works on recruiting a team captain and a group of volunteers to execute the project. These are mid-length volunteer opportunities, typically taking place over the course of a few months (but dependent upon the project at hand). Want to learn more about participating on the next ServeUp project? Visit our website for more information.

Thank you to ServeUp’s third volunteer team: Josef Hamilton, Kara Fritsch, Abbey Wolfort, Cyle Barnwell, Carly Taft, and Christine Case for being engaged young professionals and strengthening Wichita’s non-profit community!
