YPs Get a History Lesson: The Nazi Olympics Berlin 1936
  February 13, 2008
YPW members had the opportunity to get a history lesson at Mosaic's February cultural highlight event: The Nazi Olympics Berlin 1936. Susan B. Bacharach, curator of the traveling exhibit, provided some insight into the history of the games. Additionally, she discussed some media coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the comparison that is being drawn to the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The exhibit has been traveling around the country and after the trip to Wichita, will return to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., where it will be displayed during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The exhibit opened in Wichita on January 12th and will remain on display at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame through April 6, 2008.

If you have an opportunity, we encourage you to visit the exhibit and consider some of the upcoming events related to the exhibit:

March 2, 2008 Olympia with Leni Riefenstahl
March 3, 2008 Lecture and Q&A "Behind the Facade"
March 10, 2008 Lecture and Q&A "Heroes from the Margins"
March 29, 2008 Lecture and Q&A "German Spies? In Kansas?"

See the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame website at www.kshof.org for more details.

Team Mosaic will be highlighting "An Evening of Irish Song and Dance" on March 1st for their March cultural event highlight. This event requires registration by Feburary 25th and can be accessed on www.ypwichita.org.

Thank you to the members of Team Mosaic for promoting this event.
